Pattern Description: Knit dress with a surplice bodice & 1/2 circle skirt
Pattern Sizing: 30'-50' high bust. I made the 30C bodice & reduced the midriff to less than the smallest size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? No, because I made it into a t-shirt instead.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very! They were excellent.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked how easy the instructions were, but I had trouble picking a bodice size- the smaller sizes are too big.
Fabric Used: crepe knit from Fabric Mart
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: This started out as a muslin, but I decided to make it into a t-shirt. I took the midriff in a lot. Even though I drew in the lines according to my measurements (& even a little smaller), I was swimming in the thing. Also, I shortened the midriff to accommodate my short waist, then curved it out & down to make it t-shirt length. I also had to hack off the bottom of the bodice to take up some of the excess fabric, but it was still a little too big. Luckily, it shrank just the tiniest bit in the wash, so now it fits almost perfectly. It's so wonderful to actually have a surplice top where the bottom bust seam doesn't ride up over my breasts or fall too far below them.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might sew it again- it's very comfortable.
Conclusion: I'm pleased with how well this fits & feels. The bold chevrons are a little outside of my normal, which is nice.
