| Pattern Description: This is a misses suit pattern with two options for the jacket.
I believe this is out of print.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
No, I made significant modifications. Were the instructions easy to follow?
You know Burda...must have sewing experience to make sense of some of it! What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the pattern for it's collared style which fit with my inspiration vintage Chanel jacket+Modern Chanel jacket that I was trying to create. Fabric Used:
Vera boucle' from Click Here....you know what I'm talking about. The famous Vera sale from three years ago! I wish I had enough to make a skirt to match! Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
In addition to my usual FBA,
I made several.
I added slant front lined pockets, inspired by a modern Chanel jacket. It was originally lined in Bemberg Rayon, but i found that it was too stiff to work with this soft boucle. Instead, I lined it with an unconventional lightweight jersey knit. This had an effect of allowing the jacket to be soft and sweatery the way I had wanted. The sleeves were very tight. Which frustrated me, so I put it away for three years until I had a glimmer in my eye again for this jacket! Three years later, I know more and so I can do better. I deconstructed the jacket, and re-drafted the sleeves to a wider, 3/4 length sleeve. Much better. The whole jacket is trimmed out with black twill and braid. Simple. All of this was hand stitched in place. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Probably not. I think there are better Chanel type jacket patterns out there. In fact, I'm sure there are. Conclusion:
I didn't give up on this vision. Even though it would have been easy to discard about $10.00 worth of sale fabric, I had a dream to create something and when I had felt that I was in the right frame of mind and knew more about fit and drafting, I approached this project with a fresh attitude. I'm glad I did because I love this little jacket!

Well done. The choice to redo the sleeve was a good one. It makes for a comfortable jacket that you now love. Brilliante!
