This is the second time I've made this pattern, my first review is here.
Pattern Sizing:
I sewed a 12, even though Vogue thinks I'm much bigger.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
After some fixes and discounting the modifications I made, it comes fairly close.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the unusual design of this dress but it takes a lot of mucking around (for me anyway) to get the front to look decent (see my first review for how it is before the saga of tweeking the front).
Fabric Used: This is a synthetic knit of some kind with metallic paint spattered on it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't use the sleeve extensions - I learnt the first time around that they look ridiculous on me. I did consider narrowing the shoulders and adding the sleeve extensions but decided that just couldn't be bothered.
Like last time, I didn't put the pockets in or add the tie extension, I also raised the neckline.
I lengthened the back skirt in the centre, tapering to zero at the sides because after the sway back fix last time, it hiked up a bit at the back hem in the centre.
I raised the sa at the bottom of the back bodice in the centre tapering to zero at the sides for sway back.
When all of the pieces were all cut out and partially assembled I discovered that this fabric had a flaw, there was a lovely spot of black where the emerald green paint had failed to adhere - about 1cm above my bust point, there was no way that that wouldn't be noticed! I had just enough fabric left to eek out another piece - completely ignoring any grain issues, it seems to have worked out ok.
I didn't use my overlocker at all, all on the sewing machine. Twin needle for the hem, neckline and armholes.
Once it was done there was still a lot of fiddling and tweeking to get those pleats to look better, just like last time.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
The dress feels as though the waist line is below my waist? I don't know, it just doesn't feel as though it's pulling where it should be. Even though it's a fairly quick make, I think I'm tweeked out on this pattern.
Conclusion:
It seems that very few have the issues that I do with this dress, so I'd recommend it.

Despite all your problems you have managed to create a very nice dress. You look great in it and I agree with Becca a ... your version looks better than the one on the pattern envelope.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. It's a great dress for the Christmas party season, very light for hot Summer nights and of course, it's green and sparkly like a Christmas tree.
