Pattern Description:
men's button down shirt, with variations
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes, aside from a few added details
Were the instructions easy to follow?
yes, though i deviated from them
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
i like the slim fit and overall shape of this shirt. i made it for my husband and he is small-framed, so RTW is often too wide in the shoulders. what i did not like was the absence of a traditional sleeve placket (you are instructed to cut the sleeve as two pieces and turn and stitch at the cuff-opening--LAME) and lack of a real back yoke and back pleat.
Fabric Used:
100% cotton shirting
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
i added a sleeve placket, drafted a yoke, and added room in the back piece for pleats.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
yes, only because i know the fit is good. now that i have these other pieces drafted it's all fine, but if you are looking for a traditional men's shirt and don't want to bother with drafting special pieces... keep looking.
Conclusion:
i like the fit of this shirt (although the neck is a bit tight, will alter this in the future) and since i'm generally accustomed to drafting and adding pieces to meet the RTW standard, i'll stick with the pattern. however if you're not up to the task and really want all those pieces there's probably other patterns out there to try!

Beautiful job! I love sewing my DH shirts for business and fun. Been doing it for years. He loves it as well and does his own fabric shopping these days. Never thought I would see that!

Great job. Love the look and your choice of fabric. Shame you had to add so much items to get the look you wanted. But I do like the final result.
