Pattern Description: Easy2Hour Misses Knit Dress

Pattern Sizing: 8 -18 I sewed a size 14.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, with my modifications.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern. Wonderful sleeve variations and beautiful lines. So easy to wear.

Fabric Used: I used a poly/lyra knit from Fashion Fabrics Club. My revised version (long) used 2yds, 60" width. The fabric is just beautiful, no wrinkles, and fits into the 'travel' category. Honestly, I think I could roll it up and go. It's a 1-way stretch knit, really no give in the vertical grain at all, and has moderate stretch across the width. Which suits a dress really well - it's not going to get taller!

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did make several changes!

The length - to make this a maxi dress, I added 20" to the length of the skirt pieces. More than enough, but I was a little unsure of how much I needed, even after measuring every dress in my closet. Better safe than sorry...

But the fabric is 'heavy'. I was concerned about hanging all of that off the 1/4" elastic raised waist in the pattern. My fix - I added a 1 1/2" waistband/casing between the bodice and skirt. Lined in cheetah of course! The lining is cotton calico, meant to stabilize the waist, bodice, and skirt. And I used 1/2 knit elastic.

One more change (and I did this on my first version as well) - I used a back facing on the neckline. Instead of turning a 5/8" hem. I just do not like the finish on turned hems on curvy necklines! The facing works great...

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Definitely will be sewing this dress again, both short and maxi. Recommend it to everyone - easy sew, easy fit.

Conclusion: This is my third - and last - addition to Prettynpnk's Jungle January sew-along. It has been such fun - and I'm ready for an adventure! More pics and info on my blog...

You look as cool as a cucumber in this wonderful maxi length dress. Now if you can pull that off in July/August, you've definitely got a winner of a dress! Oh--thanks for showing how you handled the facing at the curved neck edge and the 5/8 inch turn under on the straight way. Also, I really liked reading about the thought process concerning the elastic width and casing. (I pay attention to these things--I really do! And I bet other people do, too.)

Very pretty! I've wondered about converting a street length dress to a maxi dress and never tried. I'm glad to see how you did it.

Speaking as one who did not take to the maxi dress trend, may I say that your dress is beautiful. What great vision you had to turn this pattern into such a lovely and flattering dress. It elongates your figure so.

Great dress! I like your idea of making a bigger casing for the waistband. I feel inspired to make another version of this dress! :)
