Pattern Description:
Misses'/Misses' Petite Shrug and Dress. I made the bolero, using view B and the sleeves from view A
Pattern Sizing: 6-12. I made a size 6, and the petite adjustment for the sleeves
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not too much, as I combined the two views together.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were great. This was my first bolero, and it's fully lined, but the instructions were very clear and they made my life so easy. It turned out to be quite an easy job, taking me a few hours from start to finish.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the simplicity of the pattern. I made this for myself as the bridesmaid for my mother in law's wedding (in a week's time), to go with my dress (review to come shortly, once I've added a waist stay and hand stitched the lining in), and will also make one for the bride, so we will both be warm. I think this will complement any dress, without distracting from the rest of the outfit.
It took me quite a long time to find the right bolero pattern. And having searched through all the major pattern catalogues, I think I have made the right decision.
Fabric Used:
Crepe backed satin for the bolero, and a lovely viscose lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just a petite adjustment for the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? In fact I am currently sewing this again for the bride. I wanted to test the pattern out on my jacket first, in case it turned out to be bad. Having tested out the fit for the bride with a toile, the fit for myself, and tested the instructions for the fully lined version, I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great pattern for a classic bolero, for any special occasion.
Conclusion:
A wonderful pattern, perfect for what I need it for. I would highly recommend it as a bolero pattern. |
