Pattern Description: Pullover dress has front extending into back collar, fitted, front pleated bodice, raised waist, tie ends, two-piece sleeves with barrel cuffs, and stitched hem.
Pattern Sizing:8-24
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? When I first saw this pattern I liked everything except for the sleeves. Because I prefer 3/4 length sleeves. But after seeing the many reviews of this pattern, I liked the way the sleeves looked. So I decided to try it and now I'm really liking the sleeves.
Fabric Used:ITY Jersey from G Street
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lined the skirt and narrowed the sleeve cuffs.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may sew this again if I find the right fabric. But I do recommend it. It come together very quickly.
Conclusion: I'm OK with the dress overall but I prefer McCall 5974 the Perfect Knit Dress. I think 5974 is much more flattering for my body type. If I was to make this again I may change the skirt to add little gathers/pleats to hide the tummy area but the front ties are working for now. I'm not happy with my fabric choice, Although I love the fabric, I wished I would have saved it for another dress style. Sometimes when I look at it I see "silk bathrobe" LOL!! Come on. I know I'm not the only one! |

I think your dress looks beautiful. I don't see silk bathrobe at all. Now I have to try McCall's 5974 and compare.

Sharp looking dress, very flattering. Reminds me of Pucci prints of the 60's.

1SewSweet: Thank you! I agree! I really want to like this dress, so I took it apart and took in the seams to make it more fitted. I think one of the problems was that it was a little big on me.

Gorgeous dress.

I just made this dress in an olive green and love it. I saw that you made a lining for the bottom. I tried to do the same but the lining was too small. Unfortunately the lining doesn't have any give to it. Can you share some pointers on how to make the lining since there is no lining?
3/22/13 12:17 PM
OhSewLaDonna- I used the skirt pattern piece to cut out my lining. I used a tricot lining. It has stretch to it. I basted the lining to the skirt piece before sewing it to the bodice.

Thanks a million! That's exactly what I need, A lining w/some stretch.
