Pattern Description: Close fitting dress with gathers on side panels.
Pattern Sizing:8-14. I cut the size 8 instead of my usual size 10 in Vogue because my knit had quite a bit of stretch. The fit was perfect.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes. And for once, I followed the Vogue instructions almost to the letter!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like everything about this pattern. The fit, while close fitting, is great. The fit is great in the back as well. click here
This great pattern almost makes my straight up and down body look slightly curvy!!
Fabric Used:A nice weight knit that I bought at Mulberry Silks in Carrboro, NC.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:After wearing the dress for an entire day, I found the neckline rather uncomfortable and I was forever tugging on it. A quick fix when I got home -- I just cut off the offending neck band which lowered the neckline by about 3/4 ". Much better now! click here Since my serger was out of commission, I made it entirely on the sewing machine, a first for me! I used my walking foot throughout and don't know if that made a difference or not. But there was no distortion. I did put the sleeves in flat -- something I nearly always do with knits. There is very little ease in the sleeve and it is easily incorporated while stitching.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?Absolutely would recommend it to everyone. It has been reviewed several times -- always favorably -- and I know why. I am definitely sewing this again. In fact, I have ordered black and white solid knits for a color-blocked sleeveless version.
Conclusion: Great pattern. Easy for all levels of stitchers!
