Pattern Description:
One-shouldered, woven dress with ruching and side zipper.
Pattern Sizing:
34-42. I graded down to a size 32 which is smaller than my normal size. More on that below.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looks similar to the line drawing and the model photo even though there were some pretty substantial changes to the pattern.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love this dress in this pattern. I know it's a tad wild but I like it that way. I can wear it this way for the cruise in March or with flats and a cardigan at work.
Fabric Used:
I decided to use a ITY knit in a gray leopard print. Va-va-voom.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The original dress includes a lining, facings, and a zipper which I didn't use. I chose, instead, to make this dress out of a knit fabric. I sized it down one size smaller than my normal Burda size (it's usually a 34) because I figured there would be wearing ease if you were wearing it as a woven. They also had a knit gusset under the strapless side, probably to give the dress a more fitted appearance over the bust. I got rid of that too. My pattern is just two pieces: front and back. The pieces look so similar that I still don't know which is really the front and back. I've worn it both ways and it looks good either way. Go figure. I added clear elastic to the seams to make sure it could take the stress of being such a stretchy seam. Look here for close-ups of that and how I did it with my serger.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might sew this again in a tame color or muted print. It's very fun but it's certainly one of a kind.

You look stunning! Thanks for the tip on the clear elastic insertion.
