Pattern Description: Girl's skirts - 1 pattern, 6 looks. Skirt has faced front waist, casing, elastic back waist and lower section variations; skirt A has applique trim; skirts A, D have ribbon trim; skirt B has lace trim; skirt F has self- fringe and contrasting lower ruffle. I made the view B.

Pattern Sizing: Girls' 7 - 14. I cut a size 7 with a length of size 10 for my 8yr old DD#2

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.

Back view

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes

Fabric Used: Regular weave denim. I added some flat biais strip piping with a purple hearts fabric for contrast and to match a jacket I had made her.

Matching jacket

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
- I added slant hip pockets with a biais trim in a contrast fabric - now, of course pockets are useful. But I soon found out that it was difficult to execute this type of pocket with the waistband facing, so I had some fiddling to do to make it work. In essence, I couldn't topstitch the facing down because I'd be sewing down the pockets... So I ended up sewing down the facing vertically along the SA of the pockets near the center front, and also down the two side seams.
- I added a biais trim between the skirt and the pleats.
- I added extra length in the main skirt.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, without the hip pockets, it's an easy skirt to sew.

Conclusion: I love the skirt and so does my DD#2. I like that the front is flat and the elastic is in the back. I like the pleats and all the other pattern options.
The only problem is that I need to make the back hems of her skirts about 3cm longer than the front so they don't ride up in the back with this type of skirt. She has a significant swayback, a curvy derriere and no tummy, and this type of skirt needs correction because it's all horizontal lines at the hem (the biais trim & the band of pleats), so if the skirt rides up it REALLY shows.
(It's the first skirt I've made for her which didn't hang straight. I sewed it up rather quickly and only tried it on her when it was done--MISTAKE! It was too late to change, so she'll wear it with leggings.)
