Pattern Description:
Knit top with asymmetric, gathered sleeves.
Pattern Sizing:
34-44. I made my usual size of 34.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looks just like the line drawing of the top.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
This was one of the patterns were they illustrate every step so it was very easy to figure out what to do. Even without the extra pictures, it would have pretty easy to do.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the gathered sleeve and I really like the view from the back. It's very fitted but it would probably be okay under a jacket. It's a tad tighter than I would normally wear. I'm not sold on the asymmetric hem and will probably change it so that it's straight instead.
Fabric Used:
I used a stretchy blue/silver knit for this. It has a lot of widthwise stretch which is nice for this very fitted top. I bought it in San Diego at the swap meet. They have great fabric there.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Let's see, I think the only thing I did was to snug up the gathered shoulder a little bit because the shoulder seemed a bit loose. Oh, and I ended up putting in a second row of stitched to keep that section of the gathered shoulder from rolling out. You can see what I mean here.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I probably will sew it again. It's a cute top. Unfortunately, it's usually too cold to wear things like this in Alaska, even in the summer. But, we do go out of state a few times a year and it'll get use then. I also think it would be cute under a jacket and I have loads of those.
Pictures: Front, back, and a close-up of the gathers. You can go to my blog if you want to see some more poses. My son was "helping" me by yelling things out while he took some pictures of me.
Sewiing Sue said... The pattern sketch doesn't do it justice. Very nice. I think the angled hem balances to the asynchronous sleeves but it is a subtle touch so a plain hem would work well too. 2/5/13 2:19 PM
