| Pattern Description: Wide legged trousers with front pleats, slant pockets with front stay.
Pattern Sizing: 34-42. I made a 38 for my daughter.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? The trousers are not difficult to make, being rated 2 dots "easy" but there are problems with the instructions. First you are directed to shorts 129, then to trousers 143 for the slant pockets. However, trousers 143 have a front fly zip, and both 129 and 130 have a side invisible zip, so you have to adapt the instructions. You are directed to a "helpful tip" for the invisible zip instruction, but it does not allow for the bulk of the pockets - not very helpful IMO.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? These are beautifully cut and flattering trousers. I like the front stay incorporated into the pockets,as it holds the pleats in place during wear.
Fabric Used: I received this fabric as part of a cotton bundle from Michael's Fabrics, however, I think it is a cotton/silk blend twill. It is a beautiful medium weight twill with drape. I used cotton batiste for lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Fitting: Reduced the waist slightly and added back crotch depth.
Design: Moved the invisible zip to the centre back seam
Construction: Added lining, and used stretched selvage in the front slant pocket to prevent bagging.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I plan to sew the shorts version (129) and recommend the pattern (but not the instructions)
Conclusion: Stylish trousers.
