Pattern Description: KS 3827 is a pattern for a jacket or vest. Jacket has a one button closure and vest as a hidden placket
One button closure

Pattern Sizing: xs-xxl-I used a medium for the shoulder and upper chest/back area switching to large at bust point down. I normally use small in KS for tops and vests but I wanted to make sure I could wear bulkier garments underneath this.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes it does with the exception that my jacket front does not spread as wide as the model’s does, which I really did not want it to be like that. The drawing of the pattern shows the jacket closed, more of what I wanted. Not sure why the model’s version and the drawing are so different.
Jacket front spread

Were the instructions easy to follow? I find KS instructions easy to follow and I did refer to them occasionally.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the style of the jacket as it is longer in the front and short in the back, back length stops at waist line. I like the way the collar looks. I did not find anything I did not like about the pattern.

Fabric Used: This is a beefy faux suede fabric I acquired from Les Fabrique in Charlottesville, VA. It was 50% off at time of purchase and was in the remnant area of the store. I used a Teflon foot to sew this fabric as a regular foot dragged on the fabric. I had to purchase a product called Foot Magic. This is Teflon pieces that you affix to any sewing foot to use on difficult fabrics such as faux or real suede. I needed to make my button foot useable on this material to sew a decent buttonhole, the fabric was double layered in the area where buttonhole is to be sewn and the Teflon foot did not work when it came to making a buttonhole, nor did the buttonhole foot until I placed Teflon on it. I learned of this product while searching on Google and was directed to Pattern Review. This is a great product and will definitely use it again when working on challenging fabric.
Foot Magic

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: The only change I made was with the topstitching of the back pieces. The center back was to be stitched then pressed closed to either the right or left. I left the center back seam open as this could be an alteration point if necessary. I did not want to pick out the topstitching to make any adjustments. I was glad I did this as I did take up the center back seam some as the back looked to wide and it is designed to be more fitted.
Backview

I also made a covered button as I neither did nor could not find an appropriate button locally. I used a product I purchased over a year ago from Sewing It Up and never used it until I made this jacket. It is called the i-Topper and it made a perfect covered button.
Sewing tool

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might consider making this again. It is one of those styles however that you may not want one or two more of the style. Maybe a denim for spring. I would recommend it to others.

Conclusion Nice pattern with good instructions.
