| Pattern Description: Pattern D from Akiko Mano's book "Fashionable Clothes Girls Like". The blouse has a Peter Pan collar, a back button opening and gently ballooned short sleeves gathered with elastic.
Pattern Sizing: Book is for ages 3-8. I made the largest, 8. The fit is good on my beanpole baby so you may need to add a bit of width for rounder tummies.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were minimalist and in French but I did ok. To attach the Peter Pan collar, I needed extra help and Googled for a good tutorial. More details, as well as pictures from Akiko Mano's book can be found on blog post.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved its simplicity and the fact that I successfully did a couple of things for the first time, namely making an exact-sized casing for the sleeve elastic and hemming of the button closure. More details can be found on blog post.
The only downside is that my daughter is miffed that she can't put this on without someone's help. Is this usually the case for back button closures? I'm sure most 3 year old girls would love a gentle, helping hand but this design isn't perhaps practical for the fiercely independent young ladies or those dressing by themselves in a hurry (e.g. after P.E).
Fabric Used: 0.75m of cotton and a small amount of voile for the collar which was also interfaced on both sides. Very cheap project, totally recession-proof!
Conclusion: I love it! It's sweet and simple to make. Hope it grows on my daughter as this style doesn't suit me at all!

I love it too. Get her to have all the buttons already done up bar the top one (or two). Then she can just reach over and do those ones up herself.
