Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
The pattern lines were the same, but I changed up the color scheme.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
yes. very simple pattern.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Love the style, love the princess styling for fit and color blocking options. This is a great peplum top.

Fabric Used:
black and white ponte knit

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
As per usual, I made some adventurous changes.
1. I was eager to do a black and white version, so the front center panel was made white, and I adapted the peplum skirt to include a center white panel. Because this is a lighter weight ponte, I underlined the white sections with a nude swimwear lining. Gave me the opaque effect I wanted for modesty, and also boosted up the sturdiness of that ponte.
2. Since I am an inverted triangle/strawberry shape, I did not want to have additional width at the shoulders, so I changed out the sleeves with my other peplum go-to pattern, Vogue 8815. When I've made this pattern, I cut a three quarter sleeve. It fit perfectly into the New Look pattern. I shortened the sleeve to an elbow length.
3. Instead of an invisible zipper, I used an exposed zipper. What I should have done is insert the zipper the entire length of the back, or shortened it. It's a weird length, stylewise, and well, I just wasn't thinking when I planned it.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would. It's a fabulous pattern. However, I learned a few things while making this top.
1. lightweight ponte does not support a split v neckline. I fiddled around with the weight of interfacing and in the end, it just flops open.
2. I had a bit of a fit issue with this one because of the split neckline. There is some drag across the top of the bustline/upper chest, which may be resolved by doing a little but more of a full bust adjustment or making some changes to the shoulder. To be honest with you, I was so tired of messing with this top that I didn't have it in me to do any more adjustments.
3. My name is Lynne and I am an Inverted Triangle. I should not wear black and white color blocking which repeats my shape, therefore emphasizing the broadness of my shoulders. Big mistake. Which means, I am not likely to wear this top on it's own. I may throw a jacket over it, and wear it, but that won't cover up my wonky neckline.

Conclusion:
Lessons learned: with this type of princess styling (which is a perfect style for getting a good fit) I should stick to solids or color blocking in the same tone or color family. It would look better on my body type.
AND: stop, think and then do. Case in point: the fabric choice, the neckline choice and that zipper. While I love this top, it's not my best effort stylistically. But I would definately make this pattern again.

Thanks for posting this review, I found this really helpful! I think the colour blocking is a really good idea, don't be too hard on yourself, they're aren't many people that wouldn't look like a swimmer with this black and white combination! I am feeling very inspired. Thanks
