|Pattern Description: |
I cut an 8 at the bust graded to a 12 at the hips.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Personally, I found the armbands to be *very* small. This made it feel very tight when I reached forwards. The finished length for a size 8 is 11 1/4". The armband fell just above the bicep on me, where I am 10" around. I ended up with a finished length of 12 1/2" just so that I could reach forwards comfortably.
I did not like the instructions for the hem. You're expected to turn it under 1/4", then press up 1" and blind stitch it. I went with a 5/8" double flat hem, which looks just fine.
The puff sleeves seem to work better with fabric that has some body to it so that it keeps its shape. It just seems to sag with this drapey fabric.
I made View B a couple times a few years back with colored cotton eyelet. It has a great shape and is very flattering on most body types. The keyhole shape just below the neckline is a nice, modest looking detail that makes it not your usual blouse. It is a shame it is out of print now.
This is one of the oldest pieces of fabric in my stash, so the only thing I remember about it is that the fiber content is 100% Polyester. It has a nice drape to it, doesn't wrinkle very much, and doesn't fray too badly when you handle it.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I used the collar band from View A and the puff sleeves from the other views.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I've sewn it before, and I'll definitely sew it again. Maybe with the flutter sleeves next time.
Simple, elegant, and easy to put together.
