MISSES' DRESS: Fitted, lined dress has bias, pleated middle front, pleated lower front (right side), and back vent/zipper with self tab.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
I think this pattern looked very much like the finished photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The pattern instructions were easy to follow. I was a bit concerned making the front horizontal pleats but I just went slowly and it all came together in the end. I would probably recommend making a muslin first to understand how the garment is constructed.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved how flattering this dress is the front horizontal pleats and also the skirt vertical pleats worked perfectly. The dress is very slim fitting and turned out really great without any alterations if you are looking to make the pattern photo.
Cotton Sateen with white cotton lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I ended up adding the sleeves from Simplicity 1873 as I had just made the dress and they seemed to fit perfectly! I also omitted the front slit, but by doing this I had to add two small front pleats on the front left and right of the neck line as it was a little baggy. I would recommend just measuring yourself or cutting a muslin first as I found just cutting my normal size 12 the skirt was a tighter fit than I wanted. So I ended up making the skirt slightly bigger.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I really liked the shape and style of this dress and I will be making lots of these. My next dress I may make the back neck line a little higher. I loved the sleeves with this dress so I will make them again and also without the front slit. This is one of those Vogue dresses that turns out beautifully with the lining. I highly recommend this pattern, it was easy, no alterations required (if your simply making the pattern photo) and a really great fit!
