Pattern Description: The Archer Button Up is a loosely fitting button up shirt with long sleeves. View A has angled cuffs and a back pleat at yoke. View B has straight cuffs and a gathered lower back detail.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is my fourth Archer, as part of the "12 Months of Archer Sewalong" page over on Flickr, so it's safe to say that this shirt is becoming a wardrobe staple for me.
Fabric Used:The star of this Archer is the fabric, a dreamy Giorgio Armani linen from Michael Levine in the color called "Sea". If you have any plans to sew with linen this summer I would seriously recommend taking a look at this gorgeous fabric. It's not much more expensive than most linens I've seen but the quality is far superior. Its sheen and body are wonderful and it washes and irons beautifully. I've ordered more for myself and some for a shirt for DH. I figured it was about time I tried my hand at something for him!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: For a closer fit I omitted the center back pleat. This worked out great and I will most likely do this on all future versions. I also finished all seams with French seams.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? With 4 months down and 8 to go, yes; I will be sewing it again.
Conclusion: My favorite Archer yet (I vaguely recall saying that before) and my buttonholes are slowly getting better with each one. The photo does show some elbow creases since I had a hard time taking it off long enough for a quick press and pictures.
