|Pattern Description: Partially lined, pullover dress has short dolman sleeves, elasticized waistline and neckline with tie ends, stitched hems and above mid-knee length. Purchased stoppers for tie ends.|
Pattern Sizing: 8-14, I cut a 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for the print of course ;)
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like most everything about this pattern! I will say though, this dress is *very* short! I'm 5 ft 2" and I had to add length. I only added 2", but many reviewers added even more. I could have stood to add a bit of length to the bodice as well, but I'm ok with how it it
I do wish that the finished hip and waist measurements were printed on the pattern tissue as I like going by those measurements more so than the size recommendations by the pattern. If I would've gone according to Vogue, it would've been too big :/.
Fabric Used: Polyester/spandex knit from Fabricville, and some kind of polyester knit lining for the skirt. I really appreciate that this dress is lined!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
-As I mentioned above, I added 2" length to the skirt.
-There's a line of stitching on the outside of the dress that run towards the armpit (as these sleeves are quite "open & airy" and you don't want your bra showing I stitched up an extra 2" after trying the bodice on, as I didn't think the stitching went high enough for me.
-I used the seam allowance at the waist for the casing instead of sewing a separate casing as the pattern instructs (thank you PR ladies who suggested this!
-I omitted the tie ends.
-The pattern has an elastic guide for the neckline, but its the same for all sizes. I had to use a slightly shorter length of elastic for the neckline to lie better. I suppose this was an issue for me because I omitted the tie ends which I assume would help adjust the fit.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I highly recommend this pattern! It wasn't as "fast and easy" as I had expected, but that may be because of my "crease resistant" fabric choice
Conclusion: At one point I wasn't sure I would even "like" this dress, let alone "love" it. I think my love of this fabric, made me more motivated to finish this dress. My wonderful husband was also very encouraging I like it a lot more than I thought I would!
I've worn this dress a few times already and have received many wonderful compliments (especially meaningful when they're from people who don't know I sew!). Two friends actually told me that they think this is their favorite dress I've sewn so far (and no, they hadn't said that about any other dress I've made, haha
This pattern is a winner! See lots more photos on my blog (click on project photo)
