Pleated skirt with various options for bodice customization.
4-10 I did my usual Project Runway 16/18 combo
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, I didn't make any changes to the pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I only looked at them when the CF pleats confused me. The directions did not help with this, I figured it out by the notches on the pattern.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Pockets hooray! I like the dart config on the bodice and the skirt pleats a lot.
Stretch cotton sateen from Gertie's etsy shop.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Only made a few fitting alterations on this pattern...
1. Forward shoulder adjustment of a 1/2" on both the bodice and the sleeve.
2. Took in shoulder 1/2".
3. Reduced sleeve cap height 1/4".
4. Increased back dart intake by 1/4".
5. Shaved a 1/2" off the back skirt side seam due to the increased dart intake.
I should have removed a little more width from the back because my zip ended up with a 1" seam allowance.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm surprised at how much I like this pattern. The pleats don't add a lot of fullness to the hip area and the simple bodice looks great in a bold pattern. I may so it again and I would recommend it.
I'm pretty darn happy with my "50's cocktail party hostess" dress. It's a very subtle retroish design that works well with the kind of bold prints I enjoy.
