|Pattern Description: |
This A-line skirt was designed using Deborah Moebes' class on Craftsy. The main measurements needed are your waist (or where you want the skirt to sit), hips, hem, and waist-to-hip lenth.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructor is awesome! She speaks very clearly, provides many options on variations as well as examples, and is quite humorous. I loved her energy throughout the videos.
Fabric Used: Fuchsia cotton jacquard with a raised surface designed by Maggy London from Fabric Mart. It has a crisp hand, slightly wavy surface and semi-lustrous finish. The lining is a polyester charmeuse from Joann's.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I drafted the skirt to have a seamed yoke waistband, which adds visual interest to an otherwise plain design. Other skirt details include an in-seam waistband pocket, a polyester charmeuse lining, a button tab near the zipper, bias tape hong kong finish at side seams, invisible side zipper, hem lace and blind catchstitch at the hem.
I really recommend this class for beginners. Drafting a garment may seem terrifying, but this video makes it quite easy and not at all intimidating.
