Pattern Description: Pullover dress with an elasticized neckline, elasticized sleeves, and a hemline tuck (which I took out) and ruffle.
Pattern Sizing: 3-4-5-6. I made an unaltered size 3.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Mostly
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I didn't care for the hemline tuck as a design feature. I feel it is a little grown up for a child under 10. I also didn't care for how very large and baggy around the neck the design is, so I ended up taking 10 inches out of the neckline elastic.
Fabric Used: Quilting cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: As I mentioned earlier, I took 10 inches out of the neckline and removed the hemline tuck. Since I wasn't planning on putting the decorative hole in the sleeve, I cut the sleeves as one piece. I also used 1/8 inch elastic instead of the recommended 1/4 inch elastic. Finally, I ended up cutting the ruffle in half lengthwise, though I really would have preferred the longer ruffle.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Not really likely. I plan on trying a different pattern in this style and will only use this one if I find one of the others ones I have severely lacking.
Conclusion: While an adequate pattern for a peasant style dress, I'll go with another company for this type of dress in the future. Definitely a good choice if your child has a stockier build. I also think it might be a good choice for pajamas since it is quite loose.
