I think art-to-wear is going through a "more is better" embellishment phase. However, your art-to-wear marries fabric with design and brings out the unique best is both. I think that is truly an art and you get the joy of wearing it.

I've had this pattern for years, and I have still not made it up. Your review was really inspiring and has me thinking about all the fabric options for this jacket. I consider this jacket "couture" - even if you consider it "wearable art" - and I'm sure Mr. Beene would feel similarly! Lovely jacket and thanks for the inspiration!
