|I made a lovely SM Cover for my mom for Christmas (2012, yikes!) but I also wanted a crafting apron to complete the gift. I had several things on my wish list: pocket for pencils, markers, pocket big enough for a pattern envelope, and a scissor sling, all things I find myself setting down and then looking for when I'm cutting out a new project. |
After lots of clicking, I came across this free pattern which had the basics. Really, I just used the measurements to get a good idea of the body of the apron, the ties, and the scissor sling (in inches):
21 x 19 for the body
30 x 5 for the ties
6.5 x 3 for the scissor sling.
I drew up the large middle pocket and pencil pocket on my own.
The directions were easy to follow and helped me put the project together a lot faster than trial and error on my own. If I make another for me, I'm going to problem-solve the scissor area. Unfortunately, if your scissors are sharp, they might rip right into the area of your apron right under the sling unless you're careful about slipping them in with the right angle. Right now, I think I might look for a leather purse at a resale shop and sew a strip under that area.
