Josephine is a dress and blouse pattern that features pin tucks and optional ruffle button tab. It can be worn year round with the optional long or flutter sleeves.
2T-10. I made a size 6 in both the dress and blouse
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes pretty much they both did without the ruffle tab.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes very easy and the printed pattens are beautiful.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The pintucks are what made me want the pattern. They make the dress and blouse look so classy. I'm not sure about the pdf versions but the printed patterns for Violette Field Threads have beautiful pictures and detailed instructions.
The dress is made out of a black/grey chambray and the body of blouse is from upscaled bed linens I purchased on Etsy. The collar is some pink cotton I had around. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I omitted the ruffle tab on both the dress and blouse. I added pleats to the sleeves, and interfaced one of the collar pieces of the dress just to give it more body next to the dress fabric. I also reinforced the shank buttons with small flat buttons on the inside to hopefully prevent loss. In an age where it seems like kids just wear t-shirts and jeans all the time, I'm glad my daughter wants me to sew for her. These patterns are really cute and produce quality results. I think a beginner would have no trouble with this pattern.
