BurdaStyle describes this as a slightly flared knee-length skirt.
36 - 44, I made a size 40 which is closest to my measurements.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, although my hip pockets don't gape open like they do on the model in the magazine!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions are fine for BurdaStyle. I struggled with the hip yoke pockets but that was not because of the instructions, the shape of the pocket bag just seemed off somehow and very shallow so maybe I traced something incorrectly. For the welt pockets I used this tutorial. I made a practice pocket first as I was worried that the denim may be too bulky for welt pockets.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the shape of the skirt with the flare at the back and a little at the front rather than at the sides.
Stretch denim. Once I'd made my skirt I felt the fabric was a bit stiff for this style and I remembered reading on the message boards about using Coca-Cola to soften fabric. I washed my skirt with a can of coke and no detergent and it really helped to soften the denim.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made no alterations to this pattern, I didn't even need to add any length. I should maybe of thought to size down a little to allow for the stretch in the denim I used, I have a feeling that this could be one of those garment that fits fine when you first put it on then grows through the rest of the day!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm not sure if I will sew this again as I don't wear skirts that often but it is a nice pattern and I would recommend it to others.
