This is the 4th project from this pattern this year and I think this will officially be my most used pattern of the year. Since I spent time fitting the bodice to myself, I figured why not just lengthen the peplum and make a dress. Worked out beautifully!
Fabric Used: Embroidered cotton/poly blend I got from India years ago. Teal/Aqua is my favorite color ( you could probably guess from the shoes too) and I totally fell in love with this beautiful fabric on one of my visits.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I measured myself from the natural waist to the knee to determine how much to extend. Then I just extended the sides of the peplum until it reached the length I wanted. That's all there is to it.
To add interest to this dress, I added faux piping to all the edges and at the hem. It added just a little bit of weight and is a beautiful finish. I've added a tip on how I did it. See above.
A purchased belt and a hat and I was ready for a tea party.
P.S. A few friends and I threw a baby shower for a friend this past week with an english tea-party theme and it was a huge hit!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? If you've still not made something from this pattern, please buy this pattern before its too late. It's a winner and you can make a lot of outfits from just one pattern.
Conclusion: I wish I couldve added more flare to this dress but unfortunately the fabric wasn't wide enough. This is my first fit-and-flare dress and you can be sure it won't be my last. I felt so sophisticated and put together in this dress. And of course loved the jaw dropping look on peoples faces when I told them I made it. I LOVE to sew!
