|I drafted a pattern for an a-line skirt by following the instruction on Deborah Moebes' Craftsy course, "Design and Sew an A-Line Skirt." I highly recommend this online course because the instructor is extremely clear, easy-going, and a pleasure to follow.|
This skirt is the result of my 3rd draft. The first was too small, the second one just right, but once I started fooling around with it to draft the yoke, it got a little too big. I've decided that I was bloated when I took my measurements, and that threw everything off. Oh well, it fits me sometimes, and that's good enough for me!
I'm particularly pleased with the little pocket flap I drafted. It's lined and topstitched. The button comes from deep stash. The fabric is 11 oz. denim in a dark shade. I love the color.
If you want to try your hand at some simple drafting, then you should take this course. Moebes has a wonderful presence on camera, and she breaks everything down into small, manageable chunks.
