|This is another cloned Target garment I made after taking the PR garment cloning class. |
I love Target clothes because they tend to be very basic; they keep their prices down by not adding a lot of junk and gewgaws. That also makes them great for cloning. One of the great things about this dress is a little pleat on the bodice section of the shoulders straps, which gives the bodice a nice shape over the bust.
This was a simple dress to clone, and I was able to add some length to the bodice, since the Target dress waist rode a little high on me. The only problems I had were 1. Forgetting to cut pockets (a really nice touch on the original dress) and 2. Getting the neckline binding to lie flat. That's a learning curve for me. I had to put a couple of tucks in the neckline to keep it from gaping.
I am thrilled to have this pattern drafted and probably will make more of this dress. Perhaps a new one every summer.
