|My oldest of three grandsons will be 3 shortly, so I'm whipping up some love for all three, since I can't be there. I decided to make personalized items. I will stuff their backpacks with all the goodies I have made them.|
I looked online for free instructions for making toddler backpacks. I found this. My grandson has shown signs of being mechanically adept, so I've sent him some toddler tools and modified this backpack with a tool belt across the front.
I found these fabrics in home dec at Hancock's. The main fabric was a flat-fold home dec. The tool belt is an outdoor fabric scrap I had. It feels like a canvas.
I used my spray Mettler Web Bond to make the monogram. The applique font is tango font I bought on etsy. The writing is Lollipop font, downloaded as a true type font into my digitizing pes program.
I used 1" black webbing I have on hand for drawstrings. The first section where she writes about how to put on the straps is a bit confusing, but, after I had done and redone the straps, I saw her diagram of the right way to thread the straps .
All in all, I love how this turned out. I actually like it better than the one on the web.
