"Just a sweet little sailor dress with the details you want like a sailor collar, jaunty ties and fully lined bodice and no extra fuss. Button (or snap) front closure."
Size 2 to 10. I made a size 3, length 4 based on my daughter's measurements. The fit is excellent.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes! The instructions were very clear, with explanations for certain steps and tips to produce better results.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I especially like that the ties are attached at the shoulders so there isn't actually a tie around the child's neck. There's a clever little loop to make the knot, so there is no need to try to tie the ties. The fit is excellent and it's clear that Jen (the designer) knows how to sew and draft.
Also, the collar has several options for embellishment and there is plenty of room if you should choose to add a monogram. I chose to use some silver rickrack I had in my stash (doesn't everyone have silver rick rack in their stash? )
I have no dislikes. This was a very well done pattern.
Cotton homespun from Hobby Lobby.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am still on the fence about the sailor style. I would not hesitate to sew this again should I want to make a sailor dress. I HIGHLY recommend this pattern, and any Tie Dye Diva pattern based on the quality of the pattern and the instructions.
This was my first time sewing a Tie Dye Diva pattern and I was so impressed with it. I've since sewn two other patterns and have a fourth ready to cut out. I've sewn PDF patterns from quite a few different companies, and Tie Dye Diva is now one of my very favorites. I trust her fit and sewing & drafting abilities and she has a lot of really cute styles available.
