|Pattern Description: |
Shirtdress in 3 views. I chose the classic shirtdress with: straight hem, no darts, combination collar/stand, tie belt, and 3/4 length sleeves.
6-14. I made a size 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, they're very straightforward. However, I do end up doing my own thing with collars - drawing on various techniques picked up along the way.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Well, I made this once before (see first version) and liked it enough to make it again!
It's a good, classic shape with simplified techniques: there's no yoke, no cuffs, no collar stand, and no darts.
This time around, I decided to make the sleeves full length with the addition of cuffs. Doing this really increases the wearability for me, as I think 3/4 length sleeves *look* cute, but rarely is it just the right weather for wearing them, AND they're annoying when you're trying to layer with a cardigan.
Lightweight denim with a sheen. I wonder if the sheen will wear off in the wash.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. My standard square shoulder alteration.
2. I flattened the sleevecap, removing the 2 inches of ease.
3. I added a slit and cuffs to the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I'd like to make this once more in a lightweight denim. It's super comfortable.
Great, classic dress!
