My mini wardrobe is a part of a larger wardrobe collection that I'm still working on.
My initial plan was to use a TNT pattern to make a simple top since I had never sewn with silk before. I came across a photo of a silk henley on pinterest and changed that plan. After doing some research, I found a great tutorial on sewing a henley placket and practiced a few times. I almost chickened out since I never quite got it perfect in the practice runs. It didn't come out perfect on the final version either but I still love my top. I used french seams for armholes and side seams and bound the neckline with self made bias.
Button Front Shirt
I attempted this pattern for the fitted shirt contest earlier this year but failed miserably. I had a list of alterations a mile long and each new muslin brought about a new set of issues. I decided to throw everything from that experience away including the pattern that was unrecognizable and start from scratch. This time I made one muslin and got the fit I was looking for. I used french seams for the side seams and armhole seams
I planned on making a pair of khaki shorts and the silk drawstring pants. After I made the shorts, they looked like kids khaki uniform shorts. I already look like I kid, I don't need my clothes to scream it. I bought enough of the material to make shorts and pants but didn't want to end up with uniform pants as well. I figured the pattern I was already using for the silk pants would be different make the cotton twill appear less disappointing. This fabric had much less drape than those suggested by the pattern but I think they came out great. I used flat felled seams for the inseam and yoke and used my over-edge foot for the crotch and side seams. I used all french seams for the silk version.
