|Pattern Description: |
This fully lined dress is designed to be made in a soft fabric. A neckline yoke and flattering curved midriff provide shape, while gathers at the bust and six gore skirt give soft fullness. Closes with an invisible side zipper.
0 - 18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Instructions were very easy to follow. I like the "Book style" of the instructions - takes up less space on my sewing table than the traditional large instruction sheets!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the overall style of the dress - it's very feminine. I don't like that the midriff panel in the front doesn't continue around to the back. It just ends at the sides - probably just me, but I think it looks a bit odd.
Main dress fabric is some cheap polyester lining fabric that I picked up at a garage sale. The yoke pieces are cotton and the piping is linen covered rattail. I prefer using rattail for piping since it is much more fluid than the traditional cotton cording.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a size 8. I did make a muslin for the top only. I ended up removing about 4 inches total of gathering in the front. Since I am not very well endowed, there was just way, way too much fabric there for me! Other than that, that's the only alteration I made.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew it again; however, I would modify the back pieces into two - so that the front midriff panel would continue around the back. I think that would look more finished.
A fully lined dress that is very comfortable to wear. Makes you feel extra feminine!
