At the recent PR Weekend Portland (May 2009) a bus full of 40 or so PR members visited Portland Fabric Stores. Mill End was the last store we visited and despite the staggering stamina and the heat, this was by far the BEST store Portland had to offer.

Speaking of Fabric - All kinds of knits, lining, wovens, even bamboo knits at unbeatable prices were available to us, Not to mention the 20% discount all PR members got this weekend.

Since I didn't really NEED anything, I dived for the gorgeous red burberry lined trench coat fabric. The fabric cost me around $35 which was a STEAL for 3 yards.

Were the sales people polite and friendly? The gentleman at the cutting counter was very helpful. He explained how the 3 layer burberry fabric was constructed and recommended that the fabric be rolled instead of folded if it's not sewn immediately. He "soft" rolled the fabric so I could carry it in my suitcase back to Boston.

The staff everywhere was very friendly and polite. Everything and everyone was very well organized.

Shopping at the Mill End Store was a delightful experience for me and if there is any store I would absolutely visit the next time I am in Portland, THIS WOULD BE IT!
