Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive?
I've bought far too much fabric from this store. The prices are very reasonable considering that the quality is high. There are frequent 25% and 33% off sales.
Were the sales people polite and friendly?
Sales people are very knowledgeable both about sewing in general and about their stock in particular.
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells?
Fabric is generally high quality. Lots of it is designer overruns. Lots of silks, merino, cotton prints and usually a range of cottons and laces. You can, if you wish, buy whole leather skins there.
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store?
The store is generally quiet (as in no loud music or beeping machines). It's fairly handily located just off Cuba St, though you have to know it is there. Lighting can be a bit dark, and a couple more mirrors might be handy. It's not a large store but has an excellent range.
They carry Vogue patterns only, and threads, but no other notions (no zips, machine needles etc). I think this is due to space constraints but it does sometimes mean you need to go elsewhere to get what you need to complete a project.
Would you shop here again?
Absolutely.
Would you recommend this store to others?
Highly recommend this store for exciting fabric finds.
Any other comments you would like to add?
This store has no late night (unless you count till 5.30 on Friday) but is open both Saturdays and Sundays, which is useful.
They don't offer a formal mail order service but others on PR have commented that Global Fabrics will send swatches and help you find what you want by phone or mail.
