After a bad experience at the Pfaff dealer in suburban St. Louis I decided to travel to Washington MO to Phil's Sewing which was about an hour away. I wanted to check out the Select 150 since my main interest was the IDT system. Larry is co-owner and the Pfaff expert. Larry did show me the computerized Expression model but did not pressure me when I said I was only interested in the mechanical Select model.
He did a nice demo then I test drove the machine for a couple of hours with samples that I brought. Larry was in a morning meeting with the Pfaff rep but periodically he or someone else checked in with me. As I played with the machine, questions came up and he answered thoroughly and and explained things in a very clear way. It was a very pleasant atmosphere and I felt completely comfortable.
I decided I wanted to buy the machine and Larry told me that a new machine was expected with the UPS delivery at noon. I went over and had a nice piece of pie and homemade soup at Cowan's restaurant then came back. The machine arrived. I wanted to make sure everything was ok before I drove back to St. Louis and we discovered that the foot pedal was defective. Larry called Pfaff and told them to send me a new pedal and lent me the foot pedal from the floor model. That was especially nice since without their foot pedal they weren't able to show that machine. The new pedal arrived at my home in a couple of days and i sent their foot pedal back in the prepaid shipping box they knidly prepared for me.
I had done my research and the price Larry quoted was about what I hoped to spend. I did not try to deal on the price. I think it's important to support businesses that treat me well.
Phil's also has a nicely designed, informative web site and they offer various classes. They also are dealers for other manufacturers but I was specifically interested in the Pfaff . If I ever need service on my new machine I'm sure I'll be traveling out to Phil's instead of going to the Pfaff dealer closer to my home.
If you live in St. Louis, drive a little further and check out Phil's in Washington, you won't regret it.

I purchased my first Pfaff from Larry in 1996. I received excellent customer service during and after the sale.
