Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive?I bought several things, and the prices were good for the notions they carry (especially high end embroidery thread and needles). INdie pattern prices are competitive, as are the prices on the high-end fabrics.
Were the sales people polite and friendly?Exceedingly! Katie was immensely helpful, even offering to cut a fat quarter for me. At one point, we were talking about machine needles, because SHE REMEMBERED I MENTIONED IN AN EMAIL I NEEDED A FINER NEEDLE. My husband doesn't always remember to pick up milk when he calls me from the store asking what we need, and I say milk. Then I thought the needles she had were too large, and she went through some spare/ surplus needles in their store use supply to see if they had anything smaller.
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells? High-- Amy Butler, Anna Maria Horner fabrics and patterns, Colette, Megan Nielsen, Sewaholic patterns, Alexander Henry and other high end quilting cottons. Also some voiles and a small selection of linens, wools, and knits. They also have a selection of boutique yarns. Very small selection of notions.
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store? My experience was great! The big draw of this store is that it is a studio as well, where you can rent time to their machines (including embroidery machine), use their cutting table, and other supplies. There are several options for studio time usage, some of which include discounts on purchases. If you're just pondering getting a machine and trying out sewing, this is a fantastic way to get a taste if this is the right hobby for you. Also, it's pretty cool if you have one machine that's in the shop, but you have projects to do. Also, nice big sturdy cutting table and deluxe iron. They offer classes and the studio can be rented for events and parties. The shop is open and airy-- very pleasant. The stock here is limited but lovely.
One thing to mention-- parking. I should've asked if the lot across was theirs, but I forgot. Otherwise, street parking. It wasn't a problem to find easy close parking on the near side street (residential), but if you hate street parking/ parallel parking.... just sayin'.
Also, depending on how you get here, there is a ton of road work around Columbus, especially around I-71, the main interstate you can use to get there. Because of a ramp closure, I ended up on side streets to get home, so I passed a horse farm right outside the city.
Would you shop here again?Yes! I hope to take a knitting class.
Would you recommend this store to others?Yes!
Any other comments you would like to add? This is a new small local business that works with indie patterns and quality fabrics and yarns. Lovely studio space with good tools!
