We visited the Mill End Store on our trip to Portland on Oct. 5th. What a fantastic store! I wasn't prepared for the size or wide variety of fabrics that they stock. This store is most likely the largest fabric store that I've ever been in--the only other store that I can think of that comes close is Vogue Fabrics in Evanston, IL. If you're planning a trip here, budget plenty of time and money (not that prices are high--you'll just likely see lots of things you'll want).
Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive?
I had to restrain myself and only bought three cuts of fabric--two cotton-blend lycra jerseys for tops/leggings for my daughter, and an ITY jersey for myself. Prices were quite good in that everything that I bought was $8-$9/yard.
Were the sales people polite and friendly?
Yes, the sales people were very polite and friendly. They were amused by my toddler throwing a fit because we took "her" bolt of fabric away so that it could be cut. (Queue the "she's starting early" jokes.)
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells?
They have fabric ranging from inexpensive everyday type fabric to high-end designer fabrics, so they hit all price points other than ultra-cheap. For reference, the ITY jersey that I bought for $8/yard is comparable in quality to other ITY jerseys that I've bought online for $10-$12/yard (outside of FabricMart sales).
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store?
I really enjoyed shopping here. I wish that I had budgeted more time and money to spend here. We will definitely be back.
Would you shop here again?
Absolutely, I would shop here again.
Would you recommend this store to others?
This store is a must-visit, if you're in the Portland, OR area.
Any other comments you would like to add?
Just a note, google maps gets a little confused when using the maps app to navigate to the store. Be patient and be prepared to be directed on a few wrong turns--GPS will figure things out and get you there.
