I've decided to start writing reviews of the stores I've been to! Yay!
Thursday, Sept 26, 2013, and once before a year prior.
I learned about this store at the American Sewing Expo and have visited their booth at the expo since 2010. Last year I decided it was time to visit their brick and mortar store, so I drove straight from the airport to Haberman's and did the same thing this year!
Have you bought anything from this store? If yes were the prices competitive?
Yes! I bought a bunch of knits last year and some woven suitings.
This year I bought all stretch: stretch lace, stretch corduroy and stretch denim. STRETCH! I think the denim and corduroy were in the $10-$12 per yard range.
Were the sales people polite and friendly?
Yes, though I had trouble identifying who the salespeople were vs the customers this year. Last year the salespeople wore rhinestone pins, with their names spelled in rhinestones. This year I didn't notice anything to distinguish customers vs salespeople.
How would you rate the quality of the item this store sells?
Very high. Really good quality stuff.
How was your shopping experience. Is there anything you did not like about this store?
This is such a great store--I'd say it is one of the best fabric stores outside of NYC. It feels like the "Best of" NYC all in one store--tons of garment fabrics, home dec, bridal, and a great notions dept--all sorts of needles, bra cups, shoulder pads, steel boning, trims, zippers, buttons, thread. You name it, they seem to have it! They also have a patterns area. Oh, and they have a very cute looking children's play area too. There's also a "bargain fabric" area with folded remnants.
They are a Janome dealer and there is a sewing machine repair shop in the store.
I love their denim--this time I bought lots of stretch denim in different colors--aqua, turquoise, brown, and purple at the store and red in their booth at the expo.
I also got some stretch brown corduroy--it feels luxurious!!
The store is quite clean and has a boutique feel to it. The selling space is large and well organized, with lots of signs. It is not overwhelming and is very satisfying to shop there. Here's a picture of the inside of the store.
Clean, upscale, spacious, worth it--these are all adjectives I'd use to describe Haberman's.
Would you shop here again?
Yes!! Definitely. A must-visit if you're going to the ASE. Take some time to visit their store, in addition to their booth at the expo.
Would you recommend this store to others?
Do they ship?
Yes! And it wasn't a big deal either. They ship UPS and it's based on the total amt of the purchase. I purchased on a Thurs afternoon and the box was on my doorstep after the gym on Monday evening.
Final adjectives to describe this store
Clean, upscale, spacious, worth it--these are all adjectives I'd use to describe Haberman's!
