The new Hot Patterns Classic Nouveau Razor-Sharp Pants have a faced waistband with a fly zipper. This is a slightly unusual combination. Unfortunately, the directions do not include any diagrams, and there seem to be some minor errors in the write-up.

So I made a practice version, took pictures along the way, and made some pictorial instructions to share. These are on the website linked to above.

This is most easily followed with the pattern instructions in hand, since I didn't spell out every single item.

I missed one important step, which I describe but couldn't show because by the time I realized I'd missed it, it was too late.

Also - in the last step, when topstitching, don't forget to keep the fly shield out of your way. You will end up (or at least I did; I don't know of another way but this was my 1st fly zipper) having stop stitching at the curve, fold the shield back over, and then start a new line of topstitching which will catch the bottom of the fly shield.

Hope this helps. It helps me; anyway - I had to refer back to it when I did my muslin zipper.
