Featured in the PR book!
Trace patterns more easily and quickly by creating your own lightbox.

Use bluetack (you know that sticky stuff you used to put posters on your wall as a kid?) to stick your pattern pieces to a big window. Also using bluetack, stick a piece of tracing paper over the top. Trace your pattern, working from the top left, smoothing down your tracing paper as you go. I find it helps to use a large ruler which I slide over the pattern, holding it all flat to the window with one hand while you trace with the other.

The great thing is you don't need a sunny day for this to work well -just a little light helps the lines on your printed pattern show through for you to trace them easily.

what a great idea! This will solve a tricky problem for me when dealing with lightly printed patterns. Thanks for the tip!

Ha --- it could be a back-saver! No bending over (I'm a slow tracer).

This also works when piecing together patterns that you have printed off the computer ...
