We took a tour through Marcy Tilton's 'Everyday Creative' closet, including original Vogue Pattern garments you have seen in the pattern book. Marcy inpsires you to look at the familiar in a new way, to put a finger on what you want to wear and how to develop a fresh set of eyes for your own personal style. there was an inspiring trunk show, extra-ordinary everyday clothes, innovative design and technique ideas to put into your own sewing and closet. She picked various people out of the audience and gave them suggestions for fitting and styles that were right on.
Topics Included: • Simplify, learn to spot the patterns, fabrics and techniques that reflect you and your life. • Techniques with a twist • Design Play • Pattern Play • The Creative Sewing/Fiber Artist's expressive/minimal 3 week travel wardrobe • "Growing" your work and • Developing a fabric collection and shopping as a creative act.
Contemporary Bias: Focused on understanding and using the bias cut for today's clothes, for novices as well as accomplished seamsters. Learned to use simple garments --- a top/dress, skirts and pants as well as bias for edges, bindings and decorative detailing. She indicated which patterns to use, converting a pattern to bias, making the best (and avoid the worst), fabric choices, cutting, figuring yardage, fitting, pressing and sewing techniques. You'll There were many handouts and Marcy's latest discoveries on bias pants.
$200 T-Shirt to the $1000 Techno-Romantic Twin-Set: Branching forth from the best selling $200 T-Shirt Marcy made famous in Threads 1996, Marcy is another step ahead! After this class, you'll know how to make a personalized pattern and the all important construction and design details to make your own 'gourmet' t-shirts with flair and ease. her system for refining fit, with checklists for pattern work and construction, and a catalog of design variations. See innovative construction techniques for smooth fine neck finishes, button band, ripple free hems, design possibilities and lots of made up garments for ideas and inspiration. Yes, you can save money and have distinctive clothes that work for you.
The $200 T-Shirt is the cover article in Threads magazine June-July 1996 issue, and has been one of my most popular classes. The info in this class was developed for an article in Threads #108, and they only used a fraction what was developed....and you will learn these new techniques in class.

I got so much information from this class and the subsequent workshop and her presentation is fun and you are never bored and constantly inspired. The following day we did a workshop wherein we painted steam a seam, silk screened, and did some foiling on fabric to make a purse, which is one of her new patterns.

If you ever have a chance to take one of her workshops or go to one of her lectures, I highly recommend it. She was very inspiring and gave me lots of great and practical tips and ideas. It will take your sewing and creativity to a new level.

Thanks for the review - sounds wonderful. Did you go to Marcy's prior workshop with Shermane Fouche? I see they are doing a Hidden Paris tour in January which sounds terrific!
