I heard this on a sewing list I am on. (Not an original idea, but a great one, IMHO.) If you have a pattern you use a lot, copy it onto an old flannel backed table cloth. (The vinyl goes onto and the flannel goes on the bottom.) The flannel will grab the fabric and eliminate the need for pins or weights. Cool, huh?
