Featured in the PR book!
I always struggle to turn under the raw edges of unlined patch pockets and get the pockets in the right place. And I'm lazy, so hand basting is not high on my list.

I use fusible thread to help manage the raw edges and position the pocket.

First I press under the raw edges of the pocket. With the fusible thread in the bobbin, I stitch around the edge of the pocket, right side up, using a long stitch. Neatness doesn't count so this is perfect for me!

Then I position the pocket on the garment and fuse it in place. I've found it takes a lot of steam to do this, depending on the fabric. A damp, clean tea towel helps a lot.

Once the pocket is in place, I pull out the basting stitch on the pocket right side, and stitch the pocket in place.

Where do you buy fusible thread? I don't live near any sewing stores besides Wal-Mart(if you can even count that) so perhaps a web site? Thank you very much.

You can order fusible thread from Red Rock threads, and shipping is free.
