I found this one day while doing a lot of hand sewing, so much so, that my finger was sore for days. I knew that I had to find some way to resolve this problem.
If, like me, you can't find a comfortable thimble, use a band-aid. Not just any one will do. It should be a tough and durable one. I don't want to mention brands but find the ones made out of so called cloth. Put one on the finger that gets the most use while hand sewing and see how much more comfortable it is to hand sew. |
Great tip and probably feels more natural/comfortable than using a thimble.

This works great. It's the only kind of "thimble" I use.

I do a lot of hand sewing, plus hand embroidery, so this good information for me. I have hated every thimble I've ever bought. Thanks for the tip.

I stumbled on to this the other day when I had several pieces to hand sew. I had a sore finger from an infected cuticle and put one of those finger tip band aides on since my thimble hurt my swollen finger. It worked sew very well.
