After moving into a smaller home, I no longer had room for my big cutting table. I dreaded cutting because it was uncomfortable to lean over the kitchen table. I bought a set of the risers that so many little catalogs advertise to raise beds for storage. I put these under the legs of my table and had a nice big cutting surface without the aching back. If I want to sit down, all I have to do is pull up a bar stool which is the perfect height.

I did the same thing here. There are a couple of sizes available. I bought the 7" risers. I also purchased a set for the "older" ladies who sew mission quilts at my church.

I did that before I bought my cutting table with casters, and you're right, it really works great. It was actually easier on my back than my current table.
