Class looks at posture, weight distribution and body proportions to establish the right patterns and best clothing styles according to your silhouette to establish flattering illusions. Seminar: $50; Kit $12 (Canadian). An all day pre-sewing show class with Claudine Pouliot, designer and owner of Haute Couture Sewing School in New Brunswick. 30 attendees. Short slide show demonstrating before and after shots of real people. In groups we created a life-sized graph of each of our body silhouettes. If you have the book Fit for Real People, you will see this process explained fully in Chapter 8. After a brief lunch break, we all gathered to have Claudine personally address each of our figures (the live ones, not the paper ones) in front of the group. A volunteer wrote everything down for the "model" so that we each took home a page of notes about our best styles. This was a great learning opportunity and Claudine had a gentle but firm way of dealing with all "problem" areas. I feel better informed about pattern choices for myself now that I have completed my workbook at home.

This may be just what I and my sewing friends are looking for. Since I live in New Brunswick, I will try to find Ms. Pouliot and get more details re: classes.

I would love to take my daughter with me to this class. Trying to sew for her body type instead of my own is quite a challenge.

Oh my! I'd love to take this class! Sounds like such a great price, too. I'm always buying/making patterns and not being able to figure out why they don't look good on me. A class like this I'm sure would be very helpful.

I took this class a couple of years ago and thought it was fantastic. Claudine is mighty charming.

Hello Tweed, I took this class too and got a lot out of it. I am using the recommendations to create a travel swap.
