This was a one day seminar put on by the local sewing guild and community college. It was fun to attend, and Lyla is a very enthusiastic, organized and easy-to-understand teacher who seems to be able to tailor her approach to the class size and make up.
She mainly showed various sample garments from her patterns, which along with notions and her book, were for sale at the seminar. She uses lots of creative techniques to embellish or change the look of a fairly basic garment. If this is something you want to do also, then this is the class for you. I enjoyed seeing her garments and her ideas, but her style is not really my style, and so I felt that I didn't benefit as much from it as I might have.
Lyla sells her patterns on her own website, and she also owns The Sewing Place. |
