I've taken Sarah's classes on-line with PR and benefittedf rom her retreat in Virginia. During my first class, I was introduced into basic slopers with a woven fabric. This class "GETTING COMFORTABLE WITH KNITS" was a 3-day class on knits. Sarah covered many of the topics that she covered in the PR online class (she gave lessons in the mornings and we sewed in the afternoon (and evening!)). It was fabulous to feel the different fabrics from her personal closet and her fabric stash (ohmigod! wow!). We learned to recognize different knit fabrics and knit the stretch/recovery and how those factors are applied to the construction of garments. The exciting bit? I left with 3 garments! How often does that happen in a weekend? And they fit! And they look like something one would expect in a store. Sarah graciously let us benefit from her purchases of trim and elastic/ snaps so we could finish things.. and thread. She gave us to many tips in her lessons and in one-on-one conversations. Fabulous. I can only recommend this highly. She is also the most gracious, fun, down to earth, laid back and gentle intructor. If I had a teacher like this in high school or college, I would probably be able to speak french! Her teaching skills make learning fun. We all made at least one garment, many of us make several. They garments ranged from a basic pattern (fit to each individual), to a turtleneck, to a halter top. All in knit! Whew. I hated to leave and I am wearing one of the tops as I write this.
